Mathematics 4.0
Science** 4.0
Social Studies		 4.0
Foreign Language		 2.0
JROTC		 2.0
Religious Studies		 2.5
Physical Education 0.5
Health 0.5


*May be exempted by satisfactory performance on the placement exam.         

** The science requirement has increased to four units beginning with the Class of 2011.  Many colleges and universities are already requiring four units of science (including three lab sciences) for admissions.  Students are encouraged to check the requirements of their preferred colleges and universities in order to plan accordingly.



The following are requirements set forth by the Georgia Board of Regents for regular admission to a Georgia college or university.

English 4 units
Mathematics 4 units ( 2 – Algebra, 1- Geometry, minimum)
Science* 4 units (includes 2 from Biology, Chemistry or Physics)
Social Science 3 units (World History, US History, Economics and Government)
Foreign Language 2 units of the same language


*Graduation is allowed with a Physical Science – Biology – Chemistry combination.

Additionally, research universities in Georgia currently require four additional electives beyond the requirements listed above.  Regional universities require two additional electives beyond the aforementioned requirements.  Junior colleges and schools require 13 college preparatory units and are generally willing to omit the foreign language requirement.
